About New Jersey Schools Construction

New Jersey Schools Construction, officially known as the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA), was established in 2007 to serve as the state's primary agency responsible for the funding and management of educational facility projects. Headquartered in New Jersey, the SDA plays a pivotal role in modernizing and renovating school infrastructures across 31 designated districts, which are referred to as SDA Districts. The Authority's mission is critical, as it ensures that all students have access to modern, safe, and conducive learning environments.

Since its inception, the SDA has effectively managed an impressive portfolio of projects valued at around $2 billion. This includes overseeing more than 850 completed school facilities projects in the SDA Districts and executing over 5,400 grants for Regular Operating Districts throughout New Jersey. These grants, which cover at least 40 percent of the eligible project costs, allow regular school districts to modernize their facilities without placing a heavy financial burden on local taxpayers.

One of the notable initiatives of the SDA is the opening of several new or renovated schools, including James Madison Elementary School No. 10 in Garfield, the Paul Robeson Community Theme School for the Arts in New Brunswick, South Street Elementary School in Newark, and Sgt. Dominick Pilla Middle School in Vineland, all of which were completed in September 2018. These projects highlight the SDA's commitment to enhancing educational environments and contributing positively to community development.

The New Jersey Schools Development Authority not only focuses on construction and renovation but also prioritizes sustainable practices and innovation in school design, ensuring that facilities meet modern educational standards. Employment opportunities within the SDA attract a diverse talent pool of professionals, ranging from technical experts to various specialists, all united in the mission of advancing New Jersey's educational infrastructure. Together, the Authority and its dedicated workforce strive to create state-of-the-art learning spaces that serve the needs of New Jersey’s children, making a significant impact on the future of education in the state.

It's a lot to keep straight, and it's further complicated by most GCs requiring their own custom payment application forms, rather than standard AIA templates. Fortunately, Siteline has more than 8,000 forms from over 6,000 GCs—in our system.
