Frequently Asked Questions
We already have an accounting software that handles billing. How is Siteline different?
Siteline doesn’t replace your accounting software; it enhances it. Right now, your team is likely generating, submitting, and tracking pay apps and lien waivers outside of your accounting system—using PDFs, email, paper, and spreadsheets. Siteline replaces that manual, error-prone workflow to supercharge your accounting system, unlock visibility into A/R, and streamline billing, enabling 6x efficiency and reducing invoice aging by 30%.
Our GC requires we use a payment portal. Why would I add Siteline?
Siteline provides a central hub to generate, submit, and track pay apps and lien waivers across all projects and clients—regardless of submission requirements. Plus, we integrate with GC payment portals, like Textura, GCPay, and Procore Pay, enabling an efficient submission process across the many different portals. Furthermore, these portals are built for the GC-side of the payment workflow. Siteline is for subcontractors. To learn more about payment portals for GCs and subs, check out this guide here.
GCs all have different requirements. How can you standardize something that needs to be custom for every job?
No matter what the GC requires—submission to a particular portal, custom billing forms, or specific compliance documents like certificates of insurance—we can handle it. The GC gets precisely what they expect, and we take all the work to customize each pay app off your hands.
What does the setup process look like?
We handle the heavy lifting, so setup is a breeze. Your dedicated onboarding manager will guide you through the account configuration process, which typically takes less than two hours.
Once your account is ready, adding new projects to Siteline is simple. Just enter the basic project details and select the necessary forms.
Each month, your team follows a straightforward workflow: update billing amounts, collect lien waivers, and attach any supporting documents. With a single click, Siteline generates your project-specific forms and compiles all the documentation you need for seamless monthly billing.
Can I onboard projects that we’ve already billed?
Yes! You can onboard projects at any stage, whether it's your first or final month of billing.
It should only take a few minutes if the forms required for the project are already in our database (we currently have more than 7,500 pay app and lien waiver forms from over 5,000 GCs in our system). If the forms aren’t in our system yet, it can take between 24 and 72 hours to build and add those forms. That said, if you’re in a bind and need a project set up sooner, our support team will jump in to make it happen.
My pay app forms don't just vary by GC. Sometimes they vary by project. Does it make sense to add the varying forms to Siteline?
Definitely. If the forms are even slightly different from your other projects, we’ll make adjustments so that Siteline outputs the correct documents each month. That way your team won't have to worry about filling out the forms correctly, double-checking that the right documents are included, or keeping track of the status of the pay app; Siteline will handle it all automatically.
How do you handle retention?
We know there are endless ways to calculate retention and each GC has its own process. We've built our system to be flexible, so you can adjust retention for the overall pay app, for each line item, or for certain periods of time. And with Siteline, you’ll never have to worry about miscalculations or missteps in timing, so you always collect what you’re owed.
